People are often looking for the best way, or the easiest way to earn money working at home. There are many different options to choose from, so how do you sort out and find the home business model that returns the quickest results, especially if you are new to the online world. In my experience, I have found that network marketing is a perfect fit for me, and a great way to earn money working at home.

So what is network marketing? With this business model, the company has agents or affiliates that sell the company's products in return for a fee or commission. Usually the affiliate pays a monthly membership fee which covers training, support, a website, hosting and other benefits. But this is where it gets interesting. The affiliate is then able to refer other affiliates and earn a monthly bonus from the referred people. Not only that, but any sales made by the referred affiliate (sales could be products or more referred affiliates) results in extra commissions for you. This can go multiple levels deep.

Obviously, the big advantage with this model is that you earn money from your product sales, your team's product sales, and monthly bonuses from your direct enrolees and their enrolees, several levels deep. You can make residual, leveraged income from referring one person, but the more affiliates you refer, the more money you will earn working at home, in the long term.

You have two choices for promoting your network marketing business (yes, it is actually a business). You can promote it offline with flyers, newspaper ads, or meeting and talking to prospects. Or you can do all your marketing online, from the comfort of your own home. Talking to prospects offline can be very time consuming, so you should qualify prospects up-front with questions designed to check their interest and suitability. You need to spend most of your time with people who are targeted and have a real interest in what you have to offer.

Me personally, I prefer to market my business online. Your reach is far greater with this method for a lot less work. You can attract targeted prospects and spend your time on people who are interested. Most network marketing companies give you a website to promote that has your links in it. I always think that it's much better to have your own landing page with lead capture and autoresponder follow-up. You then have more chances to make the sale. Once you have people in your team, it's very important to follow-up and support these members to ensure that they get off to a fast start.

Once you have your systems in place, it's time to drive targeted traffic to your landing page. You can create a blog with a link to your site, add content, and each time you make a post, "ping" to alert the blog directories. Also, write articles and submit to the article directories with a link pointing back to your site. Once you are generating an income, you can then invest in PPC (pay per click) advertising, for example, Google Adwords. But do your homework first if you are new to PPC, because it can be very costly if you don't know what you are doing.

Now, I'm not saying that network marketing is the only way to earn money working at home, but it is one of the better ways to go if you operate it like a "real" business. This is especially true if you like the idea of earning residual income month after month.
